Which Shopware plan should I choose for my business?
Shopware has four plans: Community Edition, which is free and self-hosted, Rise, from €600 a month, Evolve, from €2,400 a month, and Beyond, custom priced and usually quoted from around €6,500 a month. Your GMV, gross merchandise value, meaning total sales moving through your store before returns, discounts, and fees, sets the floor, whether you sell B2B sets the ceiling, and how much downtime you can tolerate sets the support tier on top of that. Most single-channel D2C stores under about €1 million in annual GMV are fine on Community Edition or Rise. Add wholesale, quote workflows, or customer-specific pricing and you’re looking at Evolve or Beyond instead.
Quick Answer
Small to mid-sized D2C stores under €1 million GMV with no B2B needs should start on Rise. Anything selling to other businesses, or needing gross/net pricing by customer group, needs Evolve at minimum. Multiple warehouses, subscriptions, or a 24/7 one-hour support requirement points to Beyond. Community Edition only makes sense with an in-house developer who can self-host and maintain it without Shopware’s direct support.
Shopware plans at a glance
| Plan | Starting price | Support SLA | Adds over the previous tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Community Edition | Free (self-hosted) | Community forum only | Open-source Shopware core, MIT licensed |
| Rise | From €600/month | 8 hours, Mon-Fri | Shopware Intelligence, 3D capabilities, unlimited sales channels |
| Evolve | From €2,400/month | 4 hours, Mon-Fri, plus phone support | B2B Components, Advanced Search, Dynamic Access |
| Beyond | Custom, usually quoted from around €6,500/month | 24/7, 1 hour | Digital Sales Rooms, Multi-Inventory, customer-specific pricing, Subscriptions, personal account manager |
Prices exclude VAT. Evolve and Beyond also scale with your GMV, so treat the starting figures as a floor, not a final quote.
Match the plan to your situation
Small D2C store, single channel, under €1 million GMV
Start on Rise. It gets you unlimited sales channels, Shopware Intelligence’s AI tools, and direct support instead of just the community forum. One thing to check before you book it: doing this directly in your Shopware account only works if you’re self-hosted, SaaS and PaaS customers go through sales instead. And if you’re already on Community Edition and getting close to the €1 million GMV cap under Shopware’s fair usage policy, move to Rise before the cap forces the switch, not after.
Selling B2B, wholesale, or running quote-based pricing
Evolve is the floor here. It adds B2B Components: quote management, quick ordering, shopping lists, and roles and permissions built for buyer organizations. There’s a distinction worth catching before you commit, though. Evolve gives you pricing by customer group. True customer-specific pricing, where one account gets its own negotiated price rather than a group rate, only exists on Beyond. If your sales team needs to quote two companies in the same segment differently, Evolve won’t cover it.
Bigger operations
- Multiple warehouses or subscription selling: Beyond adds multi-inventory management, native subscription commerce, Digital Sales Rooms for live selling, and the only 24/7, one-hour support SLA with a dedicated account manager. Worth the price once downtime actually costs you money.
- In-house dev team, no interest in an ongoing license fee: Community Edition works, but you’re trading the license fee for hosting, maintenance, and update work your team now owns. Scope that cost honestly with a Shopware development team before you commit to it long-term.
One thing to flag before you sign anything: Evolve and Beyond pricing scales with your GMV on top of the listed starting price, so the quote Shopware sales gives you can land higher than the numbers on this page once your actual revenue is factored in. Ask for that calculation up front instead of assuming the starting price is what you’ll end up paying.
