Engineering Dynamic, Per-Product Delivery and Pickup for Regal Mobility Rentals
As Regal Mobility Rentals grew, the
business wanted delivery available alongside store pickup on its WooCommerce storefront, not
as a single fixed setting, but managed dynamically for each product. StageBit engineered
per-product delivery and pickup logic, a
dynamic pricing and discount system, and a
full performance overhaul of the booking flow.
We help rental and booking-based businesses modernise WooCommerce
platforms with reliable scheduling logic, accurate pricing, and faster checkout.

Client Overview
Who is Regal Mobility Rentals?
Regal Mobility Rentals rents
folding mobility scooters and wheelchairs from its Groveland, Florida location, serving residents
and visitors across the greater Orlando area, including travelers heading to nearby theme parks
who need equipment for the duration of their trip.
StageBit has been Regal’s
technology partner since its original rental platform, regalscooter.com,
where we built the storefront on WooCommerce with the RnB (Rental & Booking) plugin, developed
the site’s core pages, home, product, contact, and blog, and engineered custom logic wherever the
plugin’s defaults didn’t match how the business operates, building Rental Insurance out as its own
SKU-based line item, for example, so it flows correctly into the business’s accounting rather than
being bundled in as a deposit. As the business grew, Regal moved onto a new Elementor-based
storefront, regalmobilityrentals.com, where we
rebuilt the same core pages on the new platform and came back to expand what the site could do.

What Regal asked for
We want delivery available alongside
store pickup, and we want it managed independently for each product rather than one setting
for the whole store. Since delivery costs more for us to fulfill, we also want a discount for
customers who choose store pickup instead, applied and displayed automatically, not as a
manual workaround.

The Challenge
Engineering a fully dynamic, per-product delivery and pickup system
Regal wanted delivery and pickup
available together, but not as a single setting shared across the whole catalog. Each product
needed its own independently configurable availability: its own delivery and pickup hours, its
own blocked dates, in place of the single global calendar RnB’s plugin manages by default. On
top of that, pricing needed to reflect a store pickup discount that applies and displays
automatically, since delivery carries a higher fulfillment cost for the business.
Per-product fulfillment control,
each product needed to say independently whether it supports pickup, delivery, or both,
rather than one setting applying store-wide.
A dynamic, admin-managed discount,
applied automatically to the actual rental cost, adjustable per product without
developer involvement.
Availability rules that reflect real
operations: a delivery slot can only serve one customer at a time because a
driver can’t be in two places at once, while pickup stays available throughout store hours.
Pricing accuracy across multi-day
rental rates, the new discount, and sales tax on the accessory products sold alongside
tax-exempt rentals.
All of it needed to launch without
disrupting the live storefront or its existing Zoho Books order-sync
integration.
Goals & success criteria
Defining success for a dynamic delivery and pickup platform
Before development began, we aligned with Regal on
what the platform needed to guarantee, since a rental business can’t afford double-booked equipment
or mispriced orders.
Delivery and pickup as first-class, per-product options
Experience goal
Each product needed its own pickup and delivery availability, configurable
by an admin without developer involvement.
• Enable/disable pickup and delivery independently per product.
• Clearly inform customers when an option isn’t available for a given item.
An automatic, dynamic discount
Experience goal
The Store Pickup discount needed to be a per-product, admin-configurable amount applied
automatically, not a manual, one-size-fits-all value.
• Apply against the actual calculated rental cost, not the base list price.
• Show the discount clearly on cart, checkout, order, and invoice.
Reliable, timezone-safe scheduling
Trust goal
Booked slots needed to block correctly for every visitor regardless of time zone, with delivery and
pickup treated differently based on real operational constraints.
• Block delivery slots once booked; keep pickup open within store hours.
• Prevent two customers from ever holding the same delivery slot.
A fast booking flow under real load
Performance goal
Rental price calculation and checkout needed to feel instant as booking volume grew.
• Reduce price recalculation time on date changes.
• Keep the platform compatible with the existing Zoho Books order feed.
What we built
The engineering behind reliable, per-product delivery and pickup
Offering delivery and pickup together, priced and
scheduled independently for every product, meant rebuilding how the platform decides what’s bookable,
what it costs, and how fast it responds.
Rather than a single global calendar for the
whole catalog, the way RnB’s plugin manages availability by default, every product carries
its own Enable Pickup and Enable Delivery toggles, its own time slots, and its own blocked
date ranges, all set and updated directly from the WordPress admin. Regal’s own team manages
this per product with no developer involvement, and if a customer selects an option that
isn’t available for a given item, the storefront tells them clearly instead of letting them
discover it at checkout.

Scheduling
Timezone-safe slot availability
Booked slots are stored in UTC and rendered
in each visitor’s local time, so availability displays correctly no matter where a customer
is browsing from. Delivery slots reflect that a driver can only be in one place at a time, so
once a slot is booked it’s blocked for everyone else; pickup stays open throughout store
hours since it isn’t limited the same way. Availability is validated twice: when a customer
selects a slot, and again at checkout, so two customers can never end up holding the same
delivery window.

Pricing
Dynamic Store Pickup discount with accurate tax
Each product carries its own Store Pickup
discount, set by the admin and applied automatically to the actual calculated rental cost,
correctly accounting for multi-day and tiered pricing, not just the base rate. Cart, checkout,
order details, and email invoices all show the original price and the discount as separate,
clearly labeled line items, and sales tax calculates correctly across taxable accessories sold
alongside tax-exempt rentals.

Checkout
Classic cart and checkout for transparent pricing
WooCommerce’s default block-based cart and
checkout couldn’t display the discount breakdown Regal needed without risking tax accuracy, so
we built the experience on WooCommerce’s Classic cart and checkout instead, keeping totals
and tax correct while showing customers exactly what they’re paying and why.
Not every product supports same-day
bookings, and the message a customer sees needs to reflect that. When a customer attempts a
same-day rental, a popup explains the same-day policy for that specific product, so the
guidance always matches what’s actually available instead of showing generic messaging that
might not apply to the item they’re booking.
Product-specific
messagingShown
at the moment of bookingReduces
same-day booking confusion
None of these pieces work in isolation. The fulfillment settings decide which slots are even offered, the
scheduling logic decides which of those slots are still open, and the pricing logic has to reflect
whichever combination the customer actually picks, all before the order reaches checkout.
Approach
A phased build of delivery, pricing, and performance
Regal’s site needed to keep taking live bookings
throughout the project, so changes were built and validated on a staging environment before each
stage moved to production. The work progressed from planning the dynamic, per-product system, through
the core booking and pricing logic, into checkout architecture, and finally into performance
hardening once the new flow was in place. The full engagement ran 5 weeks end to end.
1
Phase 1
Audit & Requirements
Reviewed the delivery,
pickup, and pricing logic we’d already built for Regal’s rental operations, and
mapped it against the current platform, a newer release of the RnB plugin with
different internals, running on the Elementor-based storefront, to plan a dynamic,
per-product system built for how the business operates today.
2
Phase 2
Core Delivery & Discount Logic
Built per-product fulfillment
configuration, timezone-safe availability logic, and the dynamic Store Pickup discount
on staging, validated against real pricing and tax scenarios.
3
Phase 3
Cart & Checkout Rebuild
Moved cart and checkout to the
Classic WooCommerce experience to support transparent discount display, and added
validation to prevent booking conflicts at the moment of checkout.
4
Phase 4
Performance Hardening & Launch
Profiled the full booking flow
under real conditions, optimized the plugin’s availability algorithm and server
configuration, and rolled changes to production in stages to avoid disrupting the live
Zoho Books order feed.

Platform & Integrations
The technology behind Regal’s booking flow
The platform runs on WordPress,
WooCommerce, and the RnB Rental & Booking plugin, with custom logic layered in through a
child theme and a set of purpose-built must-use plugins, hosted on Cloudways with server-level
tuning applied for the booking flow specifically.
Storefront
WordPress, WooCommerce & RnB
Elementor-based storefront with a Hello Elementor child theme
carrying the custom booking, pricing, and discount logic.
• Per-product fulfillment and scheduling fields.
• Classic cart and checkout for transparent pricing.
Payments
PayPal & WooCommerce Payments
Checkout supports both gateways, preserved throughout the
cart and checkout rebuild.
• Kept functional through the Classic checkout migration.
• Loaded selectively to keep checkout fast.
Hosting & Performance
Cloudways, tuned for booking traffic
Server and cache configuration adjusted specifically to speed
up the booking and checkout flow.
• PHP runtime upgrade, database and OPcache tuning.
• Varnish caching tuned for device type and ad-tagged URLs.
Accounting
Zoho Books order sync
The business’s existing order feed to Zoho Books had to keep
working through every stage of the build.
• Verified against new orders after each production release.
• No changes required to the accounting integration itself.
These pieces had to keep working together
under a moving codebase. The fulfillment and pricing logic changed how orders were built, which meant
every change had to be checked against what Zoho Books expected to receive on the other end.

What this means day to day
Regal sells delivery and store pickup side by side, with the pickup discount applying
automatically instead of relying on a manual workaround. Availability reflects each product’s
real fulfillment options, and the pricing engine handles multi-day and tiered rental rates the
same way whether a booking runs for a couple of days or a few weeks.
Customers get a booking screen that responds immediately as they change dates, instead of waiting
several seconds for every update, and the business’s Zoho Books order feed keeps working
without interruption.
Next steps
Need to fix scheduling, pricing, or speed on your booking platform?
Regal’s project shows how
rental and booking platforms need scheduling logic, pricing accuracy, and performance to work
together, not as separate fixes bolted on over time. Plugins like RnB give you a starting point,
but most rental and booking businesses need logic built around how they actually operate, not just
what the plugin ships with by default. If your WooCommerce or booking platform is facing similar
issues, a short technical review is a good first step.
We review your current booking, pricing, and availability logic end to end.
We identify where slow response times or pricing errors are actually coming
from, not just where symptoms show up.
We outline a staged plan that keeps your live site and integrations running
throughout.
We stay involved after launch, since plugin updates and business changes
tend to surface new edge cases over time.
Ideal for rental, booking, and reservation-based
businesses running WooCommerce with third-party scheduling plugins. We’ve worked with Regal since
their very first rental platform, and we take the same approach with every business we work with:
build for how the business actually operates, and stay involved as things change.
